Mathieu Razanakolona

Mathieu Razanakolona ( born August 2, 1986) is a Canadian- Malagasy skier. He was in Turin in 2006, the first winter athlete who went to Madagascar at the Olympics at the start.

Razanakolona was born to a Canadian mother and a father in Madagascar and grew up in Canada. As a child he began skiing.

Together with his brother Philippe, he founded the non-profit project rAzAlpin.org. The stage of the 2006 Winter Olympic Games should be used in order to bring her father's homeland in the center of worldwide awareness and collect donations for development projects.

Since December 2004 Razanakolona regularly takes part in the staged in Canada FIS races. In January 2006, he made ​​his debut in the World Cup Skiing. From the International Ski Federation ( FIS ), he was given a wildcard for the Olympic Winter Games. In Turin he started in slalom and giant slalom. However, in the slalom, he left in the first race after a gate faults. In the giant slalom, he reached 39th place with a gap of 31.43 seconds on the Olympic champion Benjamin Raich.

Razanakolona is athlete ambassador of development organization Right to Play.
