Mathilde Mallinger

Mathilde Mallinger, actually Mathilde light Egger, ( born February 17, 1847 in Zagreb, † April 19, 1920 in Berlin) was an Austrian opera singer (soprano) and singing teacher.

Life

Mallinger was a daughter of the composer Vatroslav light Egger, from whom she learned her first musical instruction. Through its support in 1863 at the Prague Conservatory student, among other things by Giovanni Battista Gordigiani and Heinrich Vogl. Then she went to Vienna to study with Richard Lewy. Through this they also made ​​the acquaintance of Dr. Franz Lachner court Kapellmeister.

This dedicated Mallinger at the Court Opera in Munich. From October 1st 1866 to September 13, 1869 there was under contract and could in the role of " Norma " successful debut there. Even in some highly acclaimed premieres she was seen: including on June 21, 1869 as "Eva" in Richard Wagner's Die Meistersinger.

With effect from October 1, 1869 Mallinger was involved with the Berlin Court Opera and stood there in constant competition with her ​​colleague Pauline Lucca. In 1882 she left the Berliner Ensemble and undertook to 1895 some tours; inter alia, at the Mariinsky Theatre to Saint Petersburg and at the State Opera in Vienna. At the Berlin State Opera, she also gave some recitals. On the occasion of one of these soirees learned Mallinger the actor and theater director Otto Düringsfeld know. In 1890 she married him and had with him a daughter, Marie.

From 1890 he was entrusted Mallinger with a teaching position at the Prague Conservatory. She later also as a singing teacher at the conservatory Eichelbergsche back to Berlin. Kaiser Wilhelm II in 1916 led her appointment as Royal Prussian chamber singer.

Mallinger died nine weeks after her 73rd birthday on 19 April 1920 in Berlin and found their final resting place at the Old Cathedral Cemetery of St. Hedwig community on the Liesenstraße.
