Matra Djet

The Matra DJET was a sports coupe of the car manufacturer Matra.

René Bonnet DJET 1962-1964 / Matra JET 1964-1968

The history of djet goes back to the designer René Bonnet. 1962 Bonnet worked on the means of a motor driven djet and a Formula 3 car. The French company Matra entered here only as a sponsor. But in October 1964 fell into financial difficulties and Bonnet Matra became the automakers, partly to bring in the money again, partly to the name to make known and not least of enthusiasm for sports. In 1965 Matra won at first Formula 3 Championship in France. Four years later, Matra was Formula 1 World Champion. After the takeover by the MATRA djet was only further built, now under the name Matra Jet. Only three months still working for Bonnet Matra, then changed the Simca engineer Philippe Guedon Matra. Until 1967, the jet was developed, the Matra 530 came on the market.
