Mats Haldin

Mats Haldin Fredrik ( born May 17, 1975 in Korsholm, Ostrobothnia ) is a Finnish orienteer.

The Finland Swedish Haldin was with a 27th place on the long distance in Scotland 1999, his World Cup debut. The long- distance should be at his home track: all European and World Championships, he went over this distance at the start. So also at the 2001 World Championships in Tampere, when he ran to a ninth place among the top ten in the world. In the same year he was also 12th in the middle distance race in the context of taking place in Japan World Games. A Landi dance race was not held.

In 2002 he won the multi-day competition O- rings in Sweden. The following year, in this competition he managed to defend the title. In September 2002, he competed at the European Championships in Hungary Sümeg. In the long distance, he reached the fourth place, while for Finland, he won the season along with Jani Lakanen and Pasi icons. In the World Cup he finished the season in third place behind Norwegian Bjørnar Valstad and the Russian Mikhail Mamlejew. In Switzerland in 2003 he won his first World Cup medal. The Finnish Season with Lakanen, Jarkko Huovila and Haldin won silver behind Sweden. In the single- start the long distance it was only enough for a 16th place.

At the 2004 European Championships in Roskilde in Denmark he finally won the only medal in an individual decision at international championships in his career. Two days after the defense of the title with the season he has been in long distance races at 14.5 km as the crow second behind the Swede Kalle Dalin. As a result, Haldin could still repeatedly placed well in international championships. Six times he ran a total of at world championships in the top eight. With the Finnish season he won the 2006 ( silver ), 2007 and 2009 ( both times bronze ), three medals. In 2008, the Finns were also at the European Championships of third parties.

Haldin was during a career clubs IF Femman (until 2001 ), Halden SK ( 2002-2007 and since 2010) and IFK Göteborg (2008 to 2009) on.
