Mats Hessel

Mats Gunnar Hessel ( born March 13, 1961 in Sundbyberg ) is a retired Swedish professional ice hockey player.

Career

Mats Hessel began his career as a hockey player with AIK Solna, for the first team he in the 1978/79 season his debut in the Elitserien, the highest Swedish league, gave. With its team of attackers won for the seasons 1981/82 and 1983/84 respectively to the Swedish championship title. In the season 1985/86 he went with AIK from the second-class Division 1, but reached with the team in the following season the direct promotion back to the Elitserien. Finally, the Swede was in season 1989/90 for the second division Rögle BK, before he ended his career at the age of 29 years.

Internationally

For Sweden Hessel took part in the U18 European Junior Championships in 1979 and the 1984 Winter Olympics in Sarajevo. At the Winter Games in 1984 he won the bronze medal with his team.
