Mats Thelin

Mats Gunnar Thelin ( born March 30, 1961 in Stockholm ) is a retired Swedish professional ice hockey player who played in his time from 1980 to 1994 among others for the Boston Bruins of the National Hockey League.

Career

Mats Thelin began his career as a hockey player with AIK Solna, for the first team he from 1980 to 1984, was initially active in the Elitserien, the highest Swedish league. With AIK he won for the seasons 1981/82 and 1983/84 respectively to the Swedish championship title. During his time at AIK defender in the NHL Entry Draft in 1981 was selected in the seventh round as a total of 140 players from the Boston Bruins. For the Boston Bruins, he played from 1984 to 1987 in the National Hockey League, but never could there prevail completely. In addition, he played during his time in North America two games for Boston's farm team Moncton Golden Flames of the American Hockey League.

For the season 1987 /88 Links Sniper returned to AIK Solna back in the Elitserien. In the 1992/93 season he suffered with his team's relegation in the then second-class Division 1. In the following season, however, he already succeeded with AIK of the direct promotion back to the Elitserien. He then finished his career at the age of 33 years.

Internationally

For Sweden Thelin participated in the World Championships in 1982 and 1983. In addition, he was in the squad of his country at the 1984 Winter Olympics in Sarajevo and the 1984 Canada Cup.
