Matsumoto, Nagano

Matsumoto (Japanese松 本市, -shi) is a city located in Nagano Prefecture in central Honshu, the main island of Japan.

Matsumoto subject in the summer thanks to its altitude is not such a hot and humid climate, like much of Japan. It is thus a center of the wood processing and the center of the Japanese guitar construction.

History

On 27 June 1994, the sect Omu Shinrikyo (also called Aum known) committed a poison gas attack ( sarin gas ) to the city that killed seven people and injured 58 more.

Attractions

The famous Japanese castle of Matsumoto stands in Matsumoto. Another attraction is the Ukiyo -e Museum.

Economy

The largest manufacturer of guitars in Japan, the company Fujigen (Fuji - stringed instruments ) is located here, but also very many suppliers that provide components such as Gotoh for the hardware or Atlansia, known for handmade basses in extravagant design, but also necks supply and Pickguards for famous brands.
