Matt Carroll (basketball)
Matthew John " Matt" Carroll ( born August 28, 1980 in Horsham, Pennsylvania ) is an American professional basketball player who played in the NBA with the Charlotte Bobcats. The 1.98 m wide Carroll plays at the position of shooting guards. His younger brother Pat is also a basketball player.
Career
After 4 years of college, he presented himself for the NBA draft in 2003, without being selected by a team. He played during the Summer League for the New York Knicks, but did not make it into the official squad.
Portland Trail Blazers
On November 7, 2003, he finally signed a contract with the Portland Trail Blazers, where he averaged one point per game scored in 13 games before he was released in early January 2004.
Roanoke Dazzle
After his release, he signed a new contract with the Roanoke Dazzle of the NBA Development League. In 11 games, he scored 15.5 points and 2.8 rebounds per game. Then it took the San Antonio Spurs on March 8, 2004 for the remainder of the season 2003/2004 under contract.
San Antonio Spurs
With the Spurs he was only used in 3 games in which he scored 2 points per game on average. After the season, his contract was not renewed, so he again offered in the Summer League for a contract. He played for the Golden State Warriors, without make it to the season squad. He went back to the D -League to the Roanoke Dazzle, where he spent the entire 2004/2005 season.
Charlotte Bobcats
On 23 February 2005, Carroll finally got a contract with the newly formed Charlotte Bobcats, where he played until 2009 before he was transferred along with Ryan Hollins for DeSagana Diop to the Dallas Mavericks.
Dallas Mavericks
The Mavs had only a reserve player and scored in any of his two seasons in Dallas more than 1.8 points per game.
Back to Charlotte
On 13 July 2010 he was sent along with Erick Dampier and Eduardo Najera for Tyson Chandler and Alexis Ajinça back to the Bobcats. Shortly after the beginning of the season 2012/2013 Carroll was transferred from the Bobcats to the New Orleans Hornets. There his contract was terminated a few days later and Carroll was released from his contract
