Matt Cullen

Matthew Cullen ( born November 2, 1976 in Virginia, Minnesota ) is an American professional ice hockey player who is since July 2013 at the Nashville Predators of the National Hockey League contract. His brothers Mark and Joe are professional hockey players.

Career

Cullen studied during his junior time at St. Cloud State University and played together with Mark Parrish for their hockey team in the National Collegiate Athletic Association. Due to its good performance, the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim were aware of him and secured at the NHL Entry Draft in 1996 in the second round, 35th the rights to him.

After another year at the university with a short trip to the Baltimore Bandits in the American Hockey League, he was from the 1997/98 season in the squad of the Mighty Ducks. In the second forward line he developed into a decent playmaker. End of January 2003 gave the Ducks from their hitherto fourth-best scorer in club history to the Florida Panthers to commit Sandis Ozoliòš. By the end of the 2003/04 season he was with the Panthers. After the end of the season he played after 1998, 1999 and 2003 at the Ice Hockey World Championship in 2004 for the fourth time for his homeland and won the bronze medal.

In August 2004, he signed with the Carolina Hurricanes, but the season was due to a strike, and he bridged the time in Italy at the SG Cortina. For the season 2005/ 06 he was finally able to play for Carolina and won with the team the Stanley Cup. In the deciding game, he contributed two assists. With his 18 points, he made ​​it to the playoffs in the top ten scorers. As a free agent he signed a four year contract for the following season with the New York Rangers. In July 2013 Cullen signed a two-year contract worth a total of seven million U.S. dollars at the Nashville Predators.
