Matthew Michael Hasselbeck ( born September 25, 1975 in Boulder, Colorado) is an American professional American football player at the position of quarterback. He plays for the Indianapolis Colts in the National Football League ( NFL).

Career

Hasselbeck attended Xaverian Brothers High School in Westwood, Massachusetts. In 1998, he was selected from the Boston College of the Green Bay Packers in the sixth round of the NFL Draft. His professional career began at the Packers, where he played as a substitute for Brett Favre. 1999 he had his debut. He was exchanged on March 2, 2001 on the Seattle Seahawks against a yet to be selected young players from the draft. After ten seasons with the Seahawks, he moved in 2011 to the Tennessee Titans. After he was released in 2013 by the Titans, he signed a new contract with the Indianapolis Colts as a backup of Andrew Luck.

Private

Hasselbeck is the son of former New England Patriots tight ends Don Hasselbeck. His younger brother, Tim Hasselbeck, and 2007 was the backup quarterback for several NFL teams. His sister Elisabeth Hasselbeck is co-host of the American talk show The View ABC television and was a participant of the television series Survivor.

Hasselbeck prefers to be called by the press " Matthew", what many do not keep in interviews though.
