Matt Hemingway

Matt Hemingway ( born October 24, 1972 in San Pedro, Los Angeles, California) is an American high jumper.

In 2000 he became a U.S. indoor champion with skipped 2.38 m. At the World Athletics Championships 2003 in Paris / Saint- Denis, he finished twelfth.

At the 2004 Olympics in Athens he won with his Freiluftbestleistung of 2.34 m silver medal behind Stefan Holm (SWE ) and before Jaroslav Bába (CZE ).

He was U.S. champion in 2005. The foot injury that he suffered thereby, disabled him at the World Championships in Helsinki, where he came only to eleventh place.

Matt Hemingway has a competition weight of 81 kg at a height of 1.98 m. His grandfather was a cousin of the writer Ernest Hemingway.
