Matthew Keith ( born April 11, 1983 in Edmonton, Alberta ) is a Canadian- British ice hockey player who is under contract with EC Red Bull Salzburg in the Austrian Hockey League the highest since August 2013.

Career

Matt Keith began his career as a hockey player with the Spokane Chiefs of the Western Hockey League, for whom he played a total of four years from 1998 to 2002. During this time, the center during the NHL Entry Draft in 2001 in the second round than a total of 59 players was selected by the Chicago Blackhawks. The 2002/03 season started the right shooter still at the Chiefs, but he changed during the season to league rival Red Deer Rebels. Before the season 2003/ 04 Keith was included in the squad of the Norfolk Admirals of the American Hockey League. In addition to his appearances for the farm team the Blackhawks, the attacker was the same year his debut in the National Hockey League for Chicago. Although he played 20 NHL games in his debut season with the Blackhawks, Keith came in the two following years, still mainly for their farm team to use.

On 28 December 2006, the Canadian was given together with Sebastien Caron and Chris Durno in exchange for Pierre Parenteau and Bruno St. Jacques to the Anaheim Ducks. However, in the following two seasons, he played exclusively for AHL farm team the Ducks, the Portland Pirates. In exchange for Darryl boat land the striker 9 January 2008 was transferred to the New York Islanders in which he held until the end of season 42 games in the AHL for the farm team, the Bridgeport Sound Tigers denied.

After three NHL appearances for the Islanders Keith signed on 25 July 2008 a contract with ERC Ingolstadt of the Deutsche Eishockey Liga. After a season in the DEL, he returned to North America and played for the Rockford IceHogs in the AHL. For the 2010/11 season he signed a contract with the Abbotsford Heat. After a one year commitment to the Swedish second division side Örebro HK Keith was obliged by HC Energie Karlovy Vary in the Czech Extraliga in July 2012, but left the club after four competitive games again and was obliged by Dornbirn EC of the Austrian Hockey League. In the summer of 2013, he moved within the EBEL for EC Red Bull Salzburg.
