Matt Kinch

Matt Kinch ( born February 17, 1980 in Red Deer, Alberta ) is a Canadian professional ice hockey player who is since January 2013 at the Bentley Generals in the Chinook Hockey League contract. In Germany he played among others with the Straubing Tigers and the EV Ravensburg.

Career

Kinch began his career in 1995 in the Canadian junior Western Hockey League with the Calgary Hitmen. Once the defensive player came in his first season in Calgary in only one game to use, he was already in the following year to the root cadres of the Hitmen. In the 1996/97 season the Canadians completed 64 games, scoring 32 points scorer. Thus he was one of the best defenders in the team point. Two years later, Kinch was with his team the championship of the Western Hockey League, the Ed Chynoweth Cup, winning and qualified as a result, with the Hitmen for participation in the tournament for the CHL Memorial Cup. There, the team won the runner-up. Kinch scored 113 points in 89 league games and thus played a major role in this success.

During the NHL Entry Draft in 1999, it was the leaders of the Buffalo Sabres, who selected him in the fifth round at a total of 146 positions. The links Sagittarius was then two more seasons in Calgary before moving to the American Hockey League at that farm team of the Buffalo Sabres, the Hartford Wolf Pack, joined in the summer of 2001. In three seasons, he went for the Wolfpack on the ice, Matt Kinch never got the chance to prove themselves in the National Hockey League, and spent most of his time in the AHL and first in the East Coast Hockey League with the Charlotte Checkers. For the season 2004 /05 the Canadians signed a contract with EC Red Bull Salzburg, for which he was, however, only one year's activity and in the following season both in the squad of the SCL Tigers of the Swiss National League A, as well as in cadre of ERC Ingolstadt standing of the Deutsche Eishockey Liga.

After a further commitment to the Straubing Tigers, Kinch returned for season 2007/ 08 to North America. There, the defender signed a contract with the Ottawa Senators, but who used it exclusively on their farm team, the Binghamton Senators in the AHL. In 73 games for the Senators completed the 28 -year-old was able to score 25 times. In the season 2008/ 09 he laced the skates in three games for the Worcester Sharks of the AHL before to Kinch decided to return to the German Hockey League. Finally, the general management of Grizzly Adams Wolfsburg took them under contract, for which he completed a season.

In 2009 he was taken from the EV Ravensburg under contract, for which he has since then played in the 2nd Bundesliga.
