Matt Skiba

Matthew Thomas Skiba ( born February 24, 1976 in Chicago ) is an American musician.

He is the lead singer and guitarist of the Chicago-based punk rock band Alkaline Trio.

Life

Private

Skiba was born on February 24, 1976 in Chicago, the son of oral and maxillo - facial surgeons Dr. Thomas Skiba, and primary school teacher Joan Skiba. He has a three years younger sister. When he was three years old the family moved from Chicago to McHenry in Illinois. Since the age of 10 he drives skateboard. He lives in Los Angeles. 2005 Skiba announced in an interview with the music magazine Guitar World, that he belongs to the Church of Satan. In the same interview he also said that he was an atheist. His membership in the Church of Satan he calls a joke. He is a vegetarian and supported the animal rights organization PETA.

Career

Before he played with Skiba Alkaline Trio was a drummer at jerkwater, Blunt, and The Traitors. In 2002, he took along with Kevin Seconds ( singer of the band 7 Seconds ) on a split EP. In the meantime, he worked as a bike messenger. In 1996, Skiba with Glenn Porter, and Rob Doran, the Alkaline Trio. Surprising first successes were recorded; meanwhile the band 8 regular albums, one EP Collection as well as two split EPs has ( with Hot Water Music and One Man Army ) published. He is also heard on Jeffree Stars debut studio album Beauty Killer in the song " Louis Vuitton Body Bag ", which was released in September 2009. Also on the Rise Against album Endgame he has a guest appearance.

In August Skiba announced a new solo album Man Records will be released on August 10, 2010 via Asian and demos that means.
