Mattenalpsee

The Matt Alpsee is a reservoir in the canton of Bern in Switzerland.

Location

The Matt Alpsee is at the upper end of the Urbachtals (upper Haslital ) at 1875 m asl below the Gauligletschers in the eastern Bernese Oberland.

Environment

The Matt Alpsee is fed by the waters of the Gauligletschers by Urbach and is impounded only in the summer months.

In the vicinity is the Gaulihütte ( 2205 m) of the Swiss Alpine Club (SAC ).

Use

Good fishing lake with 2 million m³. You can fish for brown and rainbow trout and brook trout. The water of Matt Alp lake is used by the Electricity Handeck Handeck 2 and 3 as well as Innertkirchen 1.
