Matteo Brighi ( born February 14, 1982 in Rimini, Italy) is an Italian football player. He is currently at AS Rome under contract and can be used on almost any position in midfield. His younger brother Marco is also a professional footballer.

Career

Clubs

Matteo Brighi began his professional career with his hometown club Rimini Calcio in the 1998/99 season in Serie C2. This season he played ten matches and scored one goal. The following year he played 34 games and scored six goals for Rimini.

For the season 2000/ 01 changed Matteo Brighi to record champions Juventus to Serie A. He was born on September 30, 2000 against Napoli to his debut, which he won with Juve 2-1. This season it was enough for Brighi but only to eleven missions. So it was in 2001/ 02 on loan at FC Bologna, for whom he played 32 games. In the following season Brighi played for Parma, the Juventus received as part of the change from Marco Di Vaio 50% of his transfer rights. 2003/ 04 he was on loan at Brescia Calcio, where he was a regular and drew attention to himself with good benefits.

In the summer of 2004, Matteo Brighi, sold as part of the exchange of Emerson for Juve, the Roma, the " parked " him at once for a total of three seasons at Chievo. There he spent three years as an important part of the team. After Chievo was relegated at the end of the 2006/07 season in Serie B, Brighi went back to Roma, for at first he scored his first goal in the first game from the start against FC Empoli. Still, it was hard for him so far, to establish himself in his position in the midfield against strong competition from Giuly, Taddei, Perrotta, Mancini or De Rossi.

National

After the youth selections of Italy through since the U -18, Matteo Brighi debuted on 21 August 2002 under Giovanni Trapattoni against Slovenia in the senior team. His second international game, he completed only six and a half years later, Marcello Lippi, on 28 March 2009 in a 2-0 victory in Montenegro.
