Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn ABDeh 4/10

The ABDeh 4/10 are four-part meter-gauge electrical articulated railcar of the Swiss Matterhorn -Gotthard -Bahn ( MGB) for the mixed adhesion and rack operation. The first three railcars were purchased in 2007-2008, another has been ordered and will be put into service until 2014.

The cars have 1st and 2nd class and a baggage compartment. Four of the ten axes are driven.

Like the MGB railcar series ABDeh 4/8 and BDSeh 4/8 include the railcar to the vehicle family KOMET the manufacturer Stadler Bussnang AG.

Technology

Each railcar is composed of two non-powered control cars and two intermediate cars. One of the middle car was driven; he has two -axle trucks with a traction motor per axle. The drive is in pure adhesion operation of the eight wheels of the middle car and the gear operation also has four gears for used in the MGB rack system Dept. The second intermediate car and the two control cars each have only one Lauf-/Bremsdrehgestell at the outer end of the car and support at the other end on the next car on. All bogies with air suspension.

Thanks to an automatic central buffer coupling of the type FK ( Schwab Transport AG ), the railcars as multiple units - even with the vehicle types BDSeh 4/8 and ABDeh 4/8 - drive, allowing adaptation to the capacity needs.

The railcar can to almost the entire route network of the MGB, without the steep section to Göschenen, run. For the steep section, only the three -part version is approved.

The control car and the unpowered middle cars have low -floor entrances and low-floor and high-floor areas. The car is driven means consistently hochflurig. The high-floor areas of the railcar feature panoramic windows. The vehicles are equipped with air conditioning.
