Matthew Amoah

Amoah (2006)

Matthew Amoah ( born October 24, 1980 in Tema, Ghana) is a Ghanaian football player.

Career

In the club

In youth Amoah first played at the club The Great Ambassadors FC in Ghana. In the season 1998/99 he moved to Vitesse Arnhem in the Dutch Eredivisie, where he played under coach Artur Jorge. He made his debut in November 1998 in the match against FC Utrecht and Feyenoord scored shortly thereafter his first goal. In the season 1999/2000 Amoah was loaned to Fortuna Sittard. After the season, he returned to Vitesse Arnhem back, left the club five years later but finally switched over to the winter break 2005/ 06 on the recommendation of the Dutch coach of BVB, Bert van Marwijk to Borussia Dortmund. There he initially did not find the connection, since he was injured in the course of international match at the knee and thus could only late return to training. After Amoah in the 2006 /07 did not make the breakthrough in the Borussia, he joined in the summer of 2007 for NAC Breda and thus again in the Netherlands. In Breda, he was able to pick up where his old form, scoring 42 goals in 101 games. However, since he rarely came into use in the course of time, changed to 2011/ 12 for the Turkish first division club Mersin İdman Yurdu. However, in the Turkish league, he came only to five inserts and therefore joined the 2012/13 season to the Dutch first division side SC Heerenveen, where he should replace Bas Dost. For the 2013/14 season the league rivals Heracles Almelo undertook the striker.

In the National Team

Amoah played for the national team of Ghana and participated with this five tournaments. In addition to three African Championship he was also at the 2006 World Cup on the national team and was also four years later at the 2010 World Cup squad in Ghana. At the World Championships he remained without a goal and failed each in the eighth - or quarter-finals.
