Matthew Wilder

Matthew Wilder ( born January 24, 1953 in New York City; actually Matthew Weiner ) is an American musician who has become known for its international chart success Break My Stride from the year 1983.

Life and career

Wilder was in the 1970 one half of the " Greenwich Village Folk Group Matthew & Peter ". 1978 Matthew Wilder moved to Los Angeles to sing for various television commercials. Even as a backing vocalist for Rickie Lee Jones and Bette Midler he could be heard.

The breakthrough achieved Wilder with his debut album, I Do not Speak the Language in 1983. It reached the top 49 in the U.S. Billboard charts, the most successful single from this album, Break My Stride, even 5th place was also internationally the song a great success, reaching number 4 among others, in the UK, # 7 in Germany, 8th place in Austria and number 22 in Switzerland. The follow-up singles and albums success was missing.

Despite the lack of success of his solo career, Wilder remained faithful to the music industry and proved to henceforth as a successful songwriter and record producer. He wrote songs for No Doubt, 702, Christina Aguilera, Kelly Clarkson and Joanna, dubbed "Ling " in the Disney film Mulan (1998) and contributed to the soundtrack for. Wilder produced songs for the Australian singer / songwriter Mig Ayesa and Hayden Panettiere.
