Matthias Engelsberger

Matthias Engel Berger ( born July 18, 1925 in Victory Village, † 30 October 2005) was a German politician of the CSU. He was a member from 1969 to 1990 at the German Bundestag.

Life

The Engelberg political career began in 1956 as a local councilor in victory village, 1960, he also moved to the mandate of the CSU in the council of the district of Traunstein. In 1969 he was first elected to the German Bundestag, in which he always moved as a candidate for the electoral district of Traunstein in the following five election periods.

Even after his election to the German Bundestag, he belonged until 1984 to continue at the county and municipal council. In the period 1966-1972 he was Deputy Chief Executive of the district of Traunstein.

The politician was a stakeholder of medium-sized farms in Bavaria. He was a member of the Association of Bavarian sawmill and wood industry and dedicated to the preservation of traditional locations wood processing enterprises in rural areas. This included the use of water power to generate electricity. Engelberg was one of the initiators for the realization of the Electricity Feed Act. Engelberg was honorary president of the Association of German hydropower plants ( BDW ) and the Federal Renewable Energy Federation (BEE ).

His successor as voting delegates of the district of Traunstein, Peter Ramsauer, also from the CSU.

For his services Engelberg in 1980 awarded the Bavarian Order of Merit. Since 1986 he was also winner of the Distinguished Service Cross 1st class of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany. In 1988 he received the Grand Gold Decoration for Services to the Republic of Austria. Him the Bavarian Environmental Medal was awarded in 1992.
