Matthias Flach (rower)

Matthias Flach ( born September 30, 1982 in Rostock ) is a former German sweep rowers. In 2006 he was World Champion in the four with coxswain.

Matthias flat competed for the Olympic Rowing Club Rostock and trained with Dieter Grahn. Already at junior level he was world champion in pairs with coxswain. Since 2003 Flat launched in non-Olympic coxed four and won in five years, a gold medal and three bronze medals at World Rowing Championships. In the 2008 Olympic Season Flat moved to Germany in the eighth. Flat- fetched at the 2008 German Championships Small Boat ( German Rowing Championships ) bronze, together with Florian Mennigen, in coxless pairs. Together with Andreas Penkner, Florian and Kristof Wilke Mennigen he was placed in the coxless four and took bronze at first attempt at the first Rowing World Cup 2008 in Munich. Through his performance in the 2008 season, he qualified for the Olympic team of the Germany rowing eight. For a short time he served in the newly occupied eight as a hitter, but then exchanged with Andreas Penkner. At the Olympic Games in Beijing, the German eight different with Matthias flat as the last of the pre-and repechage prematurely. In the overall standings flat occupied by Germany aft also the eighth and last place. After participating in the Olympic Games Matthias flat ended his active career as a rower.
