Matthias Miersch

Matthias Miersch ( born December 19, 1968 in Hannover ) is a German politician of the SPD. Since 2009 he is Chairman of the SPD subdistrict Hanover region.

Life and career

After graduation in 1988 at the Albert Einstein School in Laatzen Miersch began studying law at University of Hannover, which he finished with the first legal state exam in 1993. From 1988 to 1995 he completed a military service at the St John 's Ambulance. After the clerkship, where he also completed a one-semester follow-up and studied at the German University of Administrative Sciences Speyer, he passed the second state examination in 1997. Miersch is admitted to the bar in 1997 and is since 2000 specialized in criminal law.

Miersch 1990 was a member of the SPD. Member of Parliament

Miersch heard since 1991 on the advice of his hometown Laatzen and was there from 1995 to 2005 chairman of the SPD parliamentary group.

Since 2005 he is member of the German Bundestag, where it is represented in the Environment Committee. In the 17th legislature of the German Bundestag he's environmental policy spokesman for the SPD parliamentary group. Matthias Miersch is drafted as a directly elected representative of the constituency Hannover- Land II in the Bundestag. In the 2005 federal election he reached here 51.5% of the primary vote.
