Matthias Pintscher

Matthias Pintscher ( born January 29, 1971 in Marl) is a German composer and conductor.

He has worked with world -renowned artists together, including with Ensemble Modern (Frankfurt), the Scharoun Ensemble of the Berlin Philharmonic, L' Ensemble intercontemporain (Paris), Klang Forum Wien, Avanti! (Helsinki), ensemble contre champs (Geneva), remix ensemble (Porto ) and with the following orchestras: Berlin Staatskapelle, DSO Berlin, Berlin Radio Symphony, NDR Symphony Orchestra Hamburg, Stuttgart Radio Symphony Orchestra, MDR Sinfonieorchester Leipzig, RSO Saarbrücken, Frankfurt Opera and Museum Orchestra, Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra, Lucerne Symphony Orchestra, Orchestre National de Strasbourg, BBC Symphony Orchestra, Danish Radio Symphony Orchestra, Cleveland Orchestra, Philadelphia Orchestra, Chicago Symphony Orchestra.

Life

At a young age Matthias Pintscher got lessons in composition with the Hungarian composer István Nagy. After a period of study in London, he began in 1988 composing with Gislher adhesive at the Hochschule für Musik Detmold. In 1990 he met Hans Werner Henze; In 1991 and 1992 he was invited to the Cantiere Internazionale d' Arte to Montepulciano. 1992-1994 he studied with Manfred Trojahn at the Robert- Schumann -Hochschule in Dusseldorf. Subsequent invitations to the Vienna Composition Seminar 1994 ( with Péter Eötvös, Helmut Lachenmann and the sound Wien ) and the Stuttgart Symposium " Composer / Conductor " 1995 ( at the Festival MDJ ), a series of portrait concerts ( at the Salzburg Festival in 1997 and at the Alte Oper Frankfurt, 2003 [ with symposium ]) and stays as " Composer in Residence ": 1999/2000 at the National Theatre Mannheim, 2000-2002 with the Cleveland Orchestra, 2002/2003 at the Konzerthaus Dortmund, 2006 at Ars Musica Brussels and at the Lucerne Festival, 2006/ 07 in the Radio Symphony Orchestra Saarbrücken and 2007/2008 at the Cologne Philharmonie.

Since 2007 Matthias Pintscher is a professor of composition at the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich and head of the " Academy 's Young Composers " ( 2010: " Heidelberger Atelier " ) of the Music Festival Heidelberger Frühling. He currently lives mostly in New York.

In his spare time he is an art collector and dealer.

As of 2013, he will lead the Ensemble Intercontemporain in Paris.
