Mattias Hargin

Mattias Hargin (born 7 October 1985 in Stockholm ) is a Swedish alpine skier. He specializes in the slalom discipline and the younger brother of Janette Hargin.

Biography

The first FIS races contested Hargin in January 2001. In December 2003, the first use followed in a European Cup races. He recorded a first success in March 2004 as second in the Swedish Junior Championships. At the Junior World Championships 2005 he won the silver medal in the slalom. In the same year he also took part in the World Championships in Bormio, but could not finish the second slalom run. In the European Cup 2005/06 season he won three races and was second three times; so he won the slalom standings ahead of his compatriots and Jens Anton Lahdenperä Byggmark and finished sixth overall. In the European Cup 2008/09 season he has once again won the slalom rating for itself with two wins and a second place.

On 22 December 2004 Hargin drove in a World Cup slalom for the first time. However, the first World Cup points, he won only on 7 January 2007 as the 20th of the slalom in Adelboden. In the 2008 /09 season, he came up with seven top - 10 finishes in eighth place in the slalom World Cup. At the 2009 World Championships in Val d'Isere Hargin reached the fifth rank slalom. In the 2009/10 season Hargin drove in five World Cup races in the top ten, which he finished tenth in the slalom World Cup. At the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, he finished 14th place.

6 January 2011 Hargin reached third place in the slalom in Zagreb, his first podium in the World Cup. After the first run Hargin was only number 30, but with the fastest time in the second round he was still on the podium. Also, he was third on 25 January in the night slalom on the Planai in Schladming. The Slalom World Cup he finished 2010/11 in seventh position. At the World Championships 2011 in Garmisch -Partenkirchen, he was twelfth in his specialist discipline. In the season 2011/12 World Cup podiums did not materialize. He ran three times into the top seven and was like two years ago tenth in the slalom World Cup.

At the World Championships 2013 in Schladming Hargin won the silver medal in the team competition. On December 15, 2013, he scored with 2nd place in slalom in Val d'Isere his best ever World Cup result.
