Matumbi people

The Matumbi are an ethnic group in present-day Tanzania, in the territory in 1905 broke the Maji Maji rebellion.

They were spared the slave raids in pre-colonial times because of their seclusion to the outside and the impassable mountains. Therefore, they used their own rule and religion of the new colonial masters of German East Africa could not harm much. The root of the name is ' Matumbi ' defined by the morphological prefixes ' Wa ' (ethnicity ), ' Ki ' (language), 'U' (country ) and ' M' ( the individual members ) could be extended.

Example: A Mmatumbi comes from Umatumbi, speaks Kimatumbi and belongs to the Wamatumbi.
