In 2007, he wanted to end the commitment for family reasons prematurely, an offer of U.S. Palermo over seven million U.S. dollars declined from Shakhtar, however. Instead, he was taken without the consent of Ukrainians Real Zaragoza under contract and 2008 Lazio awarded first and sold for 14 million euros in 2009. Shakhtar demanded Matuzalém and Real Zaragoza, among other things, citing as agreed with Matuzalem penalty 25 million euros in compensation, according to absence of agreement, the club sued both with the support of FIFA before the International Court of Sport (CAS). In May 2009, the CAS Shakhtar spoke to a total of 11.9 million euros. Given that Matuzalém could not afford the amount that he was threatened by FIFA disbarment, he should not pay within 90 days, but this was explained by the Federal Court as a serious interference with the personal rights of fundamental law.
