The airport of Mazar -i-Sharif is the airport of the Afghan city of Mazar -e Sharif.

History

The airport Mazar -e -Sharif is one of the strategically important town of the same name. During the time of the Taliban, the city belonged to the area of ​​the Warlords Rashid Dostum, who had occupied the town temporarily.

In November 2001, the Taliban also withdrew from the rest of Balkh province and the Northern Alliance took over on 25 November 2001, after a prison riot, final control of the city.
