Geography

Geographical location

Foot castle is located in the Black Forest in the valley of the Wiese, a right tributary of the Rhine.

Neighboring communities

The municipality is bordered to the east by the city Schopfheim, to the south by the town of Rheinfelden and in the west and north by stones.

History

Foot castle was first mentioned in a deed of gift of a Ercanpert of 27 February 786 at the monastery of St. Gall as Murperch.

Religions

Since the Reformation foot castle is predominantly Protestant. In addition to the congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church there is also a free evangelical community. For Roman Catholics the church in Höllstein is responsible, which is a district of stones.

Culture and sights

Oldest church in the city is the Protestant St. John's Church. Her oldest documented mention goes back to the year 1249. In the 18th century, heavy maintenance work was necessary and in 1973/74 it was thoroughly renovated inside and out.

Next to it is in Maulburg the Catholic branch church of St. Paul. The modern church on the plan of an irregular rectangle was built in the years 1965/66 by Josef Ebert.

Foot castle is through the meadow valley railway (Basel - Zell im Wiesental ) connected to the national rail network. On the track, on line 6 of the Regio S-Bahn.

Business

The largest employer in mouth Castle is the measurement and control technology company Endress Hauser. Global Safety Textiles, claims to be the world leader in air bag fabric, headquartered in mouth castle. Also based with headquarters in mouth Castle is the group of companies Busch Vacuum Pumps and Systems.

Education

With the meadow valley school Maulburg has primary and secondary school with Werkrealschule. There is also the Helen Keller School, a training center for physically disabled and mentally handicapped children. For the youngsters, there are two kindergartens.
