Maurice Bourgès-Maunoury

Maurice Bourgès - Maunoury ( born August 19, 1914 in Luisant, Eure- et- Loir, † February 10, 1993 in Paris) was a French politician of the Liberal Radical Party.

Biography

Maurice Bourgès - Maunoury studied at the École polytechnique.

He was a member of the Resistance, where he was close to Jacques Chaban -Delmas and Félix Gaillard. He was injured on September 2, 1944 and awarded by Charles de Gaulle. In 1945 he was a representative of the Provisional Government in Bordeaux.

He joins the Radical Party, whose right wing he counts.

From 1946 to 1958 represents the the department of Haute- Garonne in the National Assembly. During this time he is repeatedly Minister and 1957 for a short time Prime Minister. 1973 fails in his attempt to return as a deputy in the National Assembly.

Defence Policy

Maurice Bourgès - Maunoury was a supporter of a military solution of the Algerian war and opposes during the Suez Crisis of Evacuation of Port Said.

Cooperation with Israel
