Maurice de Sully

Maurice de Sully ( * 1110, † September 11, 1196 ) was Bishop of Paris from 1160.

He was of peasant origin and not related to the noble family of Sully. He embarked on a clerical career, Maître was in theology, canon and archdeacon in Paris.

In his tenure as bishop of Paris laid the foundation stone for the Notre Dame Cathedral falls.
