Maurice Edu ( born April 18, 1986 in Fontana, California) is an American football player.
Career
Club career
Edu played three years in college team from the University of Maryland and was included in the 2006 College All- Star team before being registered as a Generation Adidas players for the MLS SuperDraft 2007. In the Draft he was selected by league newcomer Toronto FC as the first pick. Toronto finished the first season in the MLS with the bottom of the table, but Edu was the Rookie of the Year selected.
On August 17, 2008 it was announced that Edu Transfer for a transfer fee of 2.6 million pounds for the Glasgow Rangers. With the Rangers, he received a five -year contract. His debut in the Scottish Premier League, he celebrated 13 September 2008 in a 2-1 home victory over Kilmarnock FC.
After the relegation of Glasgow Rangers in the Scottish Football League Third Division fourth-rate, Maurice signed a three -year contract with Stoke City.
For the second half of the 2012/13 season he was loaned in the Turkish Süper Lig on Bursaspor.
Internationally
Since 2007, Edu is in the squad of the U.S. U-23 selection. In October 2007 he made his debut in the senior team of. In a friendly match against Switzerland From the Olympic team coach Piotr Nowak Edu was appointed in July 2008 in the 18- man squad for the Olympic Games.
Edu was in the squad for World Cup 2010 and the game against Slovenia scored a goal, but that was disallowed by the referee.

Edu grew up in San Bernardino, California. His father, Maurice Sr., was a mathematics teacher from Nigeria. His mother is also a teacher and is also from Nigeria. He has three sisters and a brother.
