Maurizio Seracini

Maurizio Seracini ( born 1946 ) is an Italian technicians and art historian. His specialty is the study of works of art, mainly paintings, with the most advanced technologies from the medical and military technology. Particular He caused a sensation with the assertion that Leonardo da Vinci's lost original painting of the Battle of Anghiari was still at the wall behind a Vasari fresco in the Palazzo Vecchio in Florence.

Biography

Maurizio Seracini studied until 1973 at the University of California, San Diego Engineering (Applied Mechanics and Engineering Sciences) and in a second degree electrical engineering from then until 1976 in Padua. In 1977 he founded " Editech ", the first Italian laboratory for the study of cultural goods by means of opto-electronic and other measuring devices. With the help of infrared reflectogram he has now examined more than 2,500 works of art.

Seracini now teaches at the University of Reggio Calabria and University of Venice; still he is Director of the Center of Interdisciplinary Science for Art, Architecture and Archaeology at the University of California, San Diego.

Since 1975 Seracini tried with ever better instruments in the now third exploring evidence of the existence of Leonardo's painting of the " Battle of Anghiari " in the Palazzo Vecchio to be provided.
