Mauro Ramos

Mauro Ramos de Oliveira ( born August 30, 1930 in Poços de Caldas, † September 18, 2002 ) was a Brazilian footballer. The central defender in 1958 and 1962 with the Brazilian national champion and 1949 South American champions. With his long-time club FC Santos he also won the 1962 and 1963 World Cup.

Ramos began his playing career in 1947 with Club Sanjoanense from São Paulo, moved in the next year for Sao Paulo, with whom he won the state championship four times of São Paulo in twelve years. In 1949 he was also the first time in the squad of the national team, he came to a total of 1965 to 23 international appearances and participated in three World Cups - 1954, 1958 and 1962 - in part, where he was captain of the 1962 World Champion team. In 1960 he moved to FC Santos, with whom he won his greatest success in club football. In addition to five state championships in six years, 1962 and 1963 reach two wins in the Copa Libertadores and Intercontinental Cup in a row. In 1966 he moved to end his playing career for the first time abroad to Mexico to Toluca before 1968 his professional career ended.
