Maury County, Tennessee
Maury County is a county located in the state of Tennessee in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Columbia.

Geography
The County is located just southwest of the geographic center of Tennessee and has an area of 1594 square kilometers, of which 7 square kilometers is water area. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Williamson County, Marshall County, Giles County, Lawrence County, Lewis County and Hickman County.

History
Maury County was formed on November 16, 1807 from parts of Williamson County. It was named after Abram Poindexter Maury, a graduate of the Military Academy at West Point and politician from Tennessee.
Historical buildings
- In Columbia is the historic Rattle and Snap. The manor house was recorded in 1971 by the NRHP with the number 71,000,825.

According to the census in 2000 lived in Maury County 69 498 people in 26,444 households and 19,277 families. The population density was 44 people per square kilometer. The racial the population was made up of 82.39 percent White, 14.25 percent Black or African American, 0.31 percent Native American, 0.33 percent Asian, 0.02 percent of residents from the Pacific Islander and 1.44 percent from other races groups; 1.25 percent were descended from two or more races. 3.26 percent of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
Of the 26,444 households out of which 34.8 percent have children under the age of 18 living with them. 55.9 percent were married couples living together, 12.9 percent were single mothers and 27.1 percent were non-families. 23.2 percent of all households and 8.8 percent lived in persons aged 65 years or older. The average household size was 2.58 and the average household size was 3.03 people.
26.2 percent of the population were under 18 years old, 8.7 percent between 18 to 24, 29.8 percent between 25 and 44, 23.2 percent between 45 and 64 and 12.0 percent were older than 65, the average age was 36 years. For every 100 females there were 94.6 males statistically every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 90.3 males.
The median income for a household was $ 41,591, and the median income for a family was $ 48,010. Males had a median income of $ 37,675, women $ 23,334. The per capita income was $ 19,365. 8.3 percent of families and 10.9 percent of the population lived below the poverty line.
