Max Graf

Max Graf ( born October 1, 1873 in Vienna, † June 24, 1958 ) was an Austrian music historian and critic.

Max Graf studied with Eduard Hanslick, Anton Bruckner and Guido Adler. He was in 1902 a professor at the Academy in Vienna. In the interwar period he was one of the most famous music critic. After the "Anschluss of Austria" in 1938, he emigrated to New York in 1947, he returned.

Max Graf was the father of opera director Herbert Graf.
