Max Julen

Max Julen ( born March 15, 1961 in Zermatt ) is a retired Swiss ski racer.

The greatest success of his career was his victory in the giant slalom at the 1984 Winter Olympics on February 14 in Sarajevo. In 1985 he finished tenth at the World Championships in Bormio in the same discipline. In addition to his Olympic victory he won just one more World Cup races, namely on 12 December 1983 a Giant Slalom in Les Diablerets.

He finished his career in 1987 at age 26 and since then has directed a hotel in his home town of Zermatt. Julen is married and has three children. He trained from 1979 sporting goods retailers. His father Martin Julen sen. was also ski racer and won the 1955 Lauberhorn in Wengen slalom.
