Max Landa

Max Landa (actually: Max Landau, born April 24, 1873 in Minsk, Russian Empire, † November 9, 1933 in Bled, Yugoslavia ) was an Austrian stage and silent film actor.

Life

Landa received his acting training at Karl Arnau. He debuted in 1899 in various touring companies, was then in Hanover, where he was engaged at the German Theatre in Berlin, and finally as first hero and lover of the theater in Breslau, where he also directed the summer theater. Most recently, he played at various Berlin theaters, including at the Lessing Theatre, German Art Theatre and the Little Theatre ( at the Berlin Südwestkorso ).

He began his career as a film actor 1911. 1913, he acted in The Suffragette at the side of Asta Nielsen, its discoverer for the silent film, and then turned to her six more films directed by Urban Gad. 1915/16 he was seen under Joe May in the title role of the Joe Deebs series, a popular detective series.

Ewald André Dupont turned 1918/19, a Max Landa series with a total of 12 films. 1921 was Max Landa again with Asta Nielsen for The Beloved Roswolskys front of the camera, 1928, he had his last film appearance.

From 1921 until the end of the silent era Landa also worked as an independent film producer.

Landa and his wife Margot Walter fled after handing over power to the Nazis in 1933 from the German Reich. On November 9, 1933, took Max Landa, a victim of the changed circumstances, life.
