Max Leo

Max Leo ( born December 16, 1941 in Tegernsee, † 20 July 2012) was a German luger.

Career

In January 1958 Leo won with over three seconds ahead of Thomas Köhler the title at the 4th European Junior Championships in Oberhof. In the senior, he reached his greatest success at the World Cup 1962 in Krynica -Zdrój, when he was with Fritz Nachman vice world champion in doubles. In addition, he finished in eleventh place in the single-seater. The following year he reached the seventh place in the single-seater at the World Championships in Imst. For the Olympic Winter Games in 1964 in Innsbruck, where the luge was first played as an Olympic discipline, he missed qualifying for the nine-member all-German team and ended his career.

Private life

Leo was married since 1970 to the former alpine skier Burgl Färbinger, with whom he led a boarding house in Oberau. In addition, he was managing director of a company incorporated by the family ski school and department head football TSV Berchtesgaden.
