Max Picard
Max Picard ( born June 5, 1888 in Schopfheim; † 3 October 1965 Neggio near Lugano ) was a Swiss physician and philosopher of culture.
Picard studied in Freiburg, Berlin and Munich Medicine, was a doctor in Heidelberg, followed by doctor in Munich. In 1918 he gave his occupation as a physician, and settled as a freelance writer in Ticino.
Picard wrote works on art theory, philosophy of culture and cultural criticism. In 1952 he was awarded the Johann- Peter-Hebel - price.
The writer Ernst Wiechert wrote at the suggestion of Max Picard the second volume of " Jeromin Children ", the sequel to " Forests and People " and the memoirs " Years and times ", which came out in Switzerland.
