Max Planck Institute for Dynamics of Complex Technical Systems

The Max Planck Institute for Dynamics of Complex Technical Systems is a research institute under the auspices of the Max Planck Society and has its headquarters in Magdeburg.

History

The Max Planck Institute for Dynamics of Complex Technical Systems was founded in 1996 and is the first Institute of the Max Planck Society, the focus deals with questions from the engineering sciences.

Organization

The Institute is organized into seven sections:

  • Physico- chemical process
  • System and control theory
  • Physicochemical Foundations of Process
  • Bioprocess
  • Systems Biology
  • Molecular network analysis

The scientists work times across groups in the project areas:

  • Hierarchical structures
  • Balance Systems
  • Integrated processes
  • Networked processes
  • Hybrid and Discrete Event Systems
  • Network Theory

International Max Planck Research School ( IMPRS )

The Institute operates in conjunction with the University of Magdeburg, the International Max Planck Research School for Advanced Methods in Magdeburg Process and Systems Engineering ( formerly International Max Planck Research School for Analysis, Design and Optimization in Chemical and Biochemical Process Engineering ). A IMPRS is an English doctoral program that enables a structured promotion. Speaker of the IMPRS is Andreas Seidel -Morgenstern, who is also a director of the MPI.
