Max Planck Institute for Mathematics in the Sciences

The Max Planck Institute for Mathematics in the Sciences (MPI - MIS) in Leipzig was founded on March 1, 1996. It belongs to the math and science section of the Max Planck Society.

Working scientists from various disciplines who to deal with mathematics, for applications in the natural sciences, especially physics, biology, chemistry and materials science at the Institute. The Institute has over 100 employees, Managing Director is Wolfgang Hackbusch.

  • Riemannian, Kählerian and algebraic geometry ( research group of Jürgen Jost ).

The Institute has an extensive visitors program has evolved since its inception to become an international center of applied mathematics.
