Max Rychner
Max Rychner ( born April 8, 1897 in light climbing, Canton of St. Gallen, † June 10, 1965 in Zurich ) was a Swiss journalist and writer.
Life
The son of a country doctor, studied in Berne and Zurich German, received his doctorate in 1921 and led the 1922-31 Zurich journal knowledge and life ( since 1926 New Swiss Rundschau). Until 1937 Rychner lived as an editor of the Cologne newspaper and a correspondent for the Neue Zürcher Zeitung in Cologne. After two years as literary editor of the Bernese Bund 1939-62 he headed the culture department of the fact in Zurich. Their feuilleton won under him after 1945 international format. Rychner a reputation as one of the most important and influential literary critic acquired in Germany. Its oriented hermeneutic models method of admiring rose formal aesthetic criteria far beyond the content and meaning of life.
He was editor and translator (Paul Valéry ), poet ( among other friends word 1941. Epyllion The First One, 1949), novelist and essayist (including to European literature between the two World Wars, 1943; Arachne, 1957). For his 65th birthday, a selection of works appeared with bibliography under the title legatee and testified world.
