Max Schmidt

Max Schmidt ( born August 23, 1818 in Berlin, † January 8, 1901 in Königsberg ) was a German painter.

Life

Born in Berlin on August 23, 1818 Max Schmidt studied at the Berlin Academy under Wilhelm Schirmer, Carl Joseph Bega and Carl Kruger. 1843 and 1844 he traveled in the Orient, 1847-1853 Southern Germany, Italy, the Ionian Islands and the Provence.

Returned Schmidt participated in the painting of the Egyptian court and the Greek Hall in the Neues Museum in Berlin. From 1868 he taught at the art school in Weimar and was appointed in 1872 from there to the academy in Königsberg. 1874 to 1880 and again from 1890 to 1901 he was deputy director of the Academy.

Max Schmidt died on January 8, 1901 in Königsberg.
