Max Uhlig

Max Uhlig ( born June 23, 1937 in Dresden ) is a German painter, particularly the portrait, everyday and landscape motifs dedicated to. He was professor of painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Dresden.

Career

From 1955 to 1960 Uhlig studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Dresden with Hans Theo Richter and Max Schwimmer. In the years 1961-1963 he is a master student at the German Academy of Arts in Berlin with Hans Theo Richter. With Carl Friedrich Claus 1968 he works in the creation of its first printing graphic prints (lithographs ) together; later also arise prints for Charlotte E. Pauly, Dieter Goltzsche, Willy Wolff, Otto Niemeyer -Holstein, Henry Ehmsen, Hans Theo Richter and William Hoepfner. In 1987 him the Käthe Kollwitz Prize of the Academy of Arts of the GDR Berlin, 1998, the Hans -Theo -Richter Prize and the Saxon Order of Merit is awarded. In 2003, he received the Art Prize of the City of Dresden. Uhlig was a professor of painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Dresden. He is a member of the Saxon Academy of Arts.

The Dresden painter Max Uhlig is known to the Western audience through his regular attendance at the West German survey shows the art of the GDR. Until the mid- 1970s, the artist has emerged solely as a graphic designer. For the first time in 1978 in the Print Room Dresden, Max Uhlig presented his characteristic paintings. The expression Determination - Uhlig's sense of the symbolism of temporary and certain life rhythms of existence - is to be the example discussed recently, incurred in Southern France image groups and related to the artistic innovations of French artists such as Cézanne, Matisse and Monet.

In June 2013 Uhlig's design for the design of three Gothic stained glass window in St. John's church was presented in Magdeburg. An execution by the company Derix in Taunus stone must be approved by the city yet.

Max Uhlig lives and works in the Dresden district Help Mountain on the site of the former chemical factory.
