Max Velthuijs

Max Velthuijs ( May 22nd 1923 in The Hague, † January 25, 2005 in The Hague) was a Dutch author and illustrator of children's books.

Life

He studied graphic design at the Academie voor Beeldende Kunsten in Arnhem. He then worked for a long time in advertising. From 1962, he created his first illustrations for children's books.

Max Velthuijs had its national and later international breakthrough with his award-winning books about the Kikker ( German: frog). His first frog book, which was published in 1989, was translated into 27 languages. After that followed many adventures of Frog and his friends. Some of these books have also been awarded literary prizes.
