Max Zaslofsky

Max Zaslofsky ( born December 7, 1925 in Brooklyn, New York, † 15 October 1985 in New Hyde Park, New York ) was an American professional basketball player. Between 1946 and 1956 he played in the U.S. professional league NBA for the crews of the Chicago Stags, New York Knicks and Fort Wayne Pistons. Zaslofsky was 1.89 m tall and played on the position of the Guards. He was the first guard, the NBA could lead the scoring.

As the son of Russian Jews who emigrated Zaslofsky grew up in Brooklyn. As early as high school times Zaslofsky was an outstanding player. During World War II he served in the U.S. Navy. After his discharge from the army he returned to New York, and played for the Saint John 's University. In 1946 he became a professional, to the Chicago Stags. Already at 20 he was their best player. 1949 Stags had to set the game mode, and Zaslofsky moved to his hometown club, the Knicks. There he played until 1953, until he was sent to the Pistons, where he played until 1956.

As Zaslofsky ended his career, he was the third-best scorer with 7990 points NBA history ( behind George Mikan and Joe Fulks ). He died at the age of 59 from leukemia.
