Maximilian Anton, Hereditary Prince of Thurn and Taxis

Maximilian Anton Lamoraal ( born September 28, 1831 in Regensburg, † June 26, 1867 ibid ) was the designated Hereditary Prince of Thurn and Taxis, but died in his father's lifetime.

Life

Maximilian Anton was a son of Prince Maximilian Karl von Thurn and Taxis and his wife Wilhelmine of Dörnberg.

He married on 24 August 1858, the Duchess Helene in Bavaria, daughter of Duke Maximilian Joseph in Bavaria and Princess Ludovica Wilhelmine of Bavaria, in Possenhofen. Helene was the eldest sister of Empress Elisabeth of Austria.

Maximilian died on 26 June 1867 at the age of 35 years in Regensburg to a paralysis of the lungs, and was interred in the crypt chapel of the Castle Santa Emmeram. Due to his early death, his nine year old son Maximilian Maria was 1871 skipping a generation Erbnachfolger. His wife Helene took over until 1883 the guardianship of her son.

King Ludwig II wrote in a personal letter of condolence to Prince Maximilian Karl:

"I feel with your Lordship the deep and just pain, which feels the same and the entire family Taxis'sche and ermesse very well, is what a wealth of hopes with the precious life of the deceased expired. "
