Maximilian Jaeger

Maximilian Jaeger (* 1915, † 1999) was a Swiss diplomat in Budapest from 1936 to 10 November 1944 the perceived American interests there.

He came to Budapest in 1936 as an envoy to the newly opened embassy. A minion was later known for the protective passports Carl Lutz. Jaeger participated in the resistance against the deportation of the Jews in Hungary by the German Nazis and the Hungarian Government or the Arrow Cross Party. He tried to protect Jews in 76 of " the Switzerland " as a quasi- extraterritorial declared houses. Lutz later confirmed that Jaeger has always enabled him with full confidence both freedom of action.
