In the first half of the 1990s, Maxis made a name for himself with other games of the Sim series: the evolution simulation SimEarth (1990 ), the ants simulator SimAnt (1991) and Sim Farm (1993 ), the simulation of a farm. All Games have in common that they forgo the realistic portrayal of violence, in contrast to hitherto classic games to report no winner / loser and no score and some do without defined end of the game ( "open end ").

Instead, he was created by a recommendation from Jeff Braun's father, who suggested the name of a computer game company should be two syllables and contain the letter "x".

Today the company is one of Electronic Arts (EA). The main studio is located in Walnut Creek, California. Vast parts of the developed by the company games are based on simulations. The most successful product of the company is The Sims ( original title The Sims ).
