Maxsain

Maxsain ( dialect: Maxään ) is a municipality in the Westerwald district in Rhineland- Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality of seltzer (Westerwald ).

Geography

Geographical location

The community lies between the county town of Montabaur and Hachenburg. Through it flow the Saynbach and Steinchesbach, which opens into the center in the Saynbach. The nearest town is located 3 km south west seltzer.

Community structure

The municipality consists of the villages Maxsain Maxsain and Zürbach ( dialect: Zerwisch ). Zürbach is located about 3 km further east and has about 80 inhabitants. Worth seeing is the evangelical church and the parish hall Backes in the village center.

History

Maxsain is first mentioned in documents in 1194. The spelling of the name changed over the centuries by Mach One by Maxeine and Makeseyne.

On March 1, 1970, until then independent municipality Zürbach was incorporated with 80 inhabitants.

Parish council

The local council in Maxsain consists of 16 council members, who were elected at the municipal election held on 7 June 2009 by majority vote, and the honorary mayor as chairman.

Culture and sights

Attractions

In the center of Maxsain stands on a rocky outcrop, the Protestant church. The wide transept of the building with a tower built before 1500 was supplemented in 1786 in Baroque style.

At the confluence of Steinchesbach and Big Saynbach is the 1687/88 built half-timbered house " Sahm ", a prime example of the Frankish construction with unusually strong wooden beams and lots of wood carvings.

West of Maxsain you reach the hammer mill during the Great Saynbachs. Already in 1729, Johann Martin Bachem here an ironworks. In 1857, the facilities were converted into a grist mill in 1901 was the conversion into a power station that was still producing electricity for the region.

Music

In 1985, the " Marching Band Maxsainer eV " was founded. The club with its 40 musicians strong band is an integral part of the local community. In addition to performances within Maxsains as on the traditional fun fair, the Maxsainer marching band is also heard on great shooting festivals, carnival parades and concerts. At the annual highlights is a common ring concert with the music clubs from Sessenhausen and Helferskirchen, which takes place always on the first Saturday and Sunday in November.

  • The nearest motorway junction is Mogendorf on the A 3
  • The nearest railway station is at the lower Siershahn Westerwaldbahn to Limburg, the next stop is the ICE Montabaur station on the high-speed line Cologne-Rhine/Main.
